Once you have been provided with your permanent Site Key, you can authorize your software by launching ManneQuinPRO and selecting File/Authorization/Authorize. Simply enter the Site Key number at the prompt.

How can I transfer my ManneQuinPRO software license?

You must have a copy of ManneQuinPRO already installed and authorized with a Site Key on one computer and another copy of ManneQuinPRO already installed but not authorized on another.

Please follow the procedure listed below:

  1. Register License Transfer
Start the program on the target computer (the one that you want to activate) and register the transfer by selecting File/Authorization/Register License Transfer. Supply the path for the floppy disk - default is A:\. This function will place a registration imprint file on the floppy disk. Remove the floppy disk from the target computer and place it in the source computer with the registered version.
  2. License Transfer Out
Start the program on the source computer and transfer out by selecting File/Authorization/License Transfer Out. You must supply the floppy disk path - default is A:\. This function will read the registration imprint file and write a matching license imprint file onto the floppy. It will also terminate the license source. Remove the floppy disk from the source computer and return it to the target computer.
  3. License Transfer In
Restart the program in the target computer and transfer in the license by selecting File/Authorization/License Transfer In. You must supply the path for the floppy disk - default is A:\. This completes the license transfer and discards the intermediate imprint files.

What can I do if ManneQuinPRO Version 7 or 7.1 does not run after uninstalling Version 8 thru 10 after a trial period has expired or other reasons?

When a customer has both ManneQuinPRO Version 7 and Version 8-10 on the same PC, uninstalling Version 8-10 removes the Crypkey NT service and ManneQuinPRO Version 7 does not open anymore.

Solution: Reinstall the NT Crypkey service by double clicking on setup.exe found in the directory C:\Program Files\NexGen Ergonomics\ManneQuin Pro 7.

Note: The ManneQuinPRO Version 7 license file is still valid and will be available as soon as the NT Crypkey service is reinstalled.

Using ManneQuinPRO With Other Software Products

After importing a DXF file from AutoCAD Release 12 Advanced Modeling Extension (AME) into ManneQuinPRO, why do the objects seem to be wireframe instead of solids?

Before exporting an AME solid model to DXF, perform the SOLMESH command on all objects. This ensures the DXF interprets the drawing as a solid model instead of a wire frame.

How can I transform AutoCAD solid objects into polygonal objects?

An AutoCAD script to transform solid objects into polygonal objects can be found at www.accustudio.com/marketplace/fm_freeware.htm. Look for MeshOUT.

MESHOUT.LSP : Converts 3d objects into meshes. Will also join meshes together.

When importing a DXF file into ManneQuinPRO, why do my objects break down into arcs and lines instead of grouped objects that can be selected?

When importing DXF models to ManneQuinPRO, you may need to check the option box, "Combine Objects with Same Properties", in the DXF Import Options dialog box. This option will group objects by their respective layers.

When importing to ManneQuinPRO or exporting to AutoCAD, why do the units of measure not correspond resulting in a mannequin not matching my drawing scale?

When importing or exporting DXF files to or from ManneQuinPRO, there is an options dialog box. One set of options is the unit measure. The applicable unit measure (inches, feet, millimeters, centimeters, or meters) of your CAD drawing should be selected. ManneQuinPRO will automatically scale the drawing to match. When drawing within ManneQuinPRO the unit measure can be selected from the Tools menu under "Set Units".

My DXF's created in AutoCAD Release 13 and 14 import to ManneQuinPRO with no problem if the file just contains 2D elements. When the file contains both 2D and 3D elements only the 2D elements are imported. Why?

Beginning with Release 13, AutoCAD implemented the proprietary ACIS solid modelling kernel. Previously AutoCAD solids were actually defined by surfaces bounding some volume, similar to the method used in 3D Studio, as well as ManneQuinPRO. Since AutoCAD licenced the ACIS kernel from a third party company (Spatial Technologies), they were restricted in their ability to permit free exchange of the data contained in a model file. Hence the new DXF code in Release 13 and 14, pertaining to 3D solids, is cryptically encoded.

However, there is a method by which you can convert 3D ACIS solids to solids defined by surfaces which can be universally exchanged between most CAD programs. The first step is to save your drawing in AutoCAD as you normally would. Next choose Export from the File menu. Select SAVE AS TYPE and choose *.3ds (3D Studio). Give it a file name such as "Temp.3ds". At the Select Objects prompt choose the objects that you want to export or type in ALL for all the objects. At the 3ds Export Options dialog box accept the default options by selecting OK. Next, start a new drawing. From the Insert menu choose 3D Studio. Select the Temp.3ds file you previously created. Choose ADD ALL from the available objects dialog box, and choose OK. The file will be inserted to your new drawing and has now been converted from ACIS solids to surfaced solids. Select Export from the File menu. Choose *.DXF, and give it a file name. Now Import it to ManneQuinPRO!

Summary of Steps to Convert "ACIS-based Solids" to "Surfaced Solids"

  1. Save AutoCAD drawing as normal.
  2. File menu - Export. Save as type 3D Studio, with name "temp.3ds". Type in ALL, at Select Objects prompt. Select OK, at the 3ds Export Options dialog box for the default options.
  3. Start new drawing.
  4. Insert menu - 3D Studio. Select the Temp.3ds file. Choose ADD ALL from the available objects dialog box and then OK.
  5. File menu - Export. Save as type DXF, with desired file name.
  6. Import to ManneQuinPRO.

How do I transfer data from ManneQuinPRO to Solidworks2003?

You can import a 2D DXF file into Solidworks2003. However, Solidworks2003 does not support 3DS and DXF file formats. As Solidworks2003 can read VRML and STL, you can use a third party tool to convert from 3DS (exported from ManneQuinPRO) to VRML (more compact and thus preferred to STL). One of these converters is IVCON, a free helper which can be found at: www.psc.edu/~burkardt/src/ivcon/ivcon.html.

In ManneQuinPRO, export the mannequin in 3DS format. Launch IVCON, and use the commands "< 3dsfile.3ds" and then "> vrmlfile.wrl" to convert the 3D file. Import the VRML file in SolidWorks2003

Are 3DSOLID entities in DXF files supported?

3DSOLID entities in DXF files are not supported. A simple export to 3DS (from AutoCAD) will do the trick. If you must use DXF, see if your application has an option to not use "3DSOLID" entities in the DXF file.

Other PC Utilities and ManneQuinPRO's Site Key

Do any Norton Utilities affect ManneQuinPRO's site key?

Yes, Speed Disk is the defragmentation utility included in Symantec's Norton Utilities. Unfortunately Speed Disk moves CrypKey Instant licensing files, causing license loss. CrypKey Instant uses four special licensing files (.ent, .rst, .key and .41s) to control ManneQuinPRO licensing. These files are hidden system files and reside in the same directory as the protected product.

To prevent license loss:

  1. Open Speed Disk, and choose File, Options, Customize and Unmovable Files.
  2. Specify that the *.ENT, *.RST, *.KEY and *.41S files cannot be moved.

Does Diskeeper affect ManneQuinPRO's Site Key?

It could. Diskeeper should be configured to exclude Crypkey files (.key, .rst, .ent, & .41s).

Other notes to consider for users of Diskeeper using ManneQuinPRO:

If Diskeeper is trying to run while the operating system is loading then a possible conflict can occur between NetworkX and Crypkey License Service occurs.

When one has MannequinPro installed it installs one service and one device. The device is called "Networkx" the service is called "Crypkey License". If one is using Diskeeper and one sets the boot time defrag to include chkdsk this will not only not run, but it will delete the Crypkey and require a reload of MannequinPro. It will also fail to do the chkdsk and it will not decheck the setting in diskeeper. Kenomic (developer of Crypkey) suggests doing a screen shot of both those settings in Services and Devices, so as to have the correct settings, and then to turn off both and set them to disabled on startup. Then Boot time defrag will work with chkdsk. After boot time has finished and the computer is up and running, use the screen shot to get the settings back and reboot. It is important to not attempt to light off the Crypkey protected program before having done all this. If you do, you will have to reload the Crypkey protected program.

Another option is to not run a boot time defrag or chkdsk. Schedule a scandisk and defrag to occur after your system has completed loading of the OS.

Another option may be for Diskeeper to provide an option run the defrag/chkdsk before the operating system begins to load? eg; Launch process from the autoexec.bat.
