FSA Seat and Back Mats
The FSA standard seat and back mats (SPMS) as well as the larger industrial seat and back mats (IPMS) have various applications including validation of product designs or in the research and development of next generation products. A frequent application is in the seating area such as in the automotive sector helping to design more comfortable/supportive seats, or for the development of ergonomically correct office seating.
The FSA system's objective data quickly informs the designer of the impact changes have on the effectiveness of the product achieving design goals. It can shorten the design cycle by helping the design team quickly focus on ideas and materials that match the design goals and demonstrate when they are reached. Data gathered can easily be transferred to a spreadsheet to facilitate in depth statistical analysis. Gather data over time as the study subject is driving or riding with the remote feature.

A variety of seat and back sizes are available to match your application.
All seating pressure mats uses SoftFlex, a new generation of FSA sensing mats that are more durable, flexible and drapable. They feel soft like three layers of fabric and conform easily to soft interface shapes.
Over the past 10 years, FSA seat pressure sensing systems have played an integral role in the research, development and marketing of new seating surfaces and products. The objective, quantifiable data gives you real time feedback on how the iterations in materials and design are performing. FSA helps to shorten the number of design cycles needed to produce the desired results. Seat systems are available in two sizes:
- SPMS
Sensing area is 17" x 17" inches (physically 21" x 21") is made of a 16 x 16 array of 256 1" cells and is 0.014" thick. It is they are covered with lycra. The same sized sensing mat is in seat and back but with different calibrations-seat 200 Hmg and back 100 Hmg. FSA software displays both seat and back simultaneously on the same screen.
- IPMS
Industrial seat and back mats are slightly larger and incorporate an extra flap of lycra material to facilitate their attachment to seat and back surfaces. They are both constructed similar to standard seats with 256 1" sensors and 0.014" thick. Sensing area for seat is 20.5" x 21.5" (physically 27" x 27"). Sensing area for back is 21.5" wide X 23.5" long (physically 28.5" wide x 30.5" long).
Calibrations can go as high as 300 Hmg. Higher resolutions of sensors are available on request.
Combining the seat systems with an optional 4 Meg memory module gives the ability to gather data for instance as a truck driver is in a new seat driving down the highway. A telemetry option is available.
